Here is a copy of Belize's holiday calendar, as presented out by the Tourism Board of Belize. Included here are descriptions of each of the holidays and events listed. For November, there are only two holidays/official events--the Garifuna Settlement Day and the Stann Creek Agricultural Fair. The Garifuna Settlement Day is a commemoration of the first arrival of the Garifuna in 1832 in Dangriga, while the Stann Creek Agricultural Fair exhibits livestock and local fruits and vegetables. Belize is home to around 370 species of migratory birds, including the Jabiru Stork, the largest flying bird in the whole North America. To protect these migratory birds from industrial intrusion, the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary was established. It is made up of inland lagoons, swamps, waterways that provide food sources and safe resting places for our feathery friends. It is also home to some species of monkeys, crocodiles, turtles, and iguanas. Belize Tourism Board Tags: tourism board • wildlife sanctuary • birds • jabiru stork • 0 Comments. - Permalink |
